The Dakar organization has released the details of the 2007 Dakar Rally here.

We're very happy with this course. There is a lot of time spent in sand, where we think that we'll have the overall advantage with our lighter weight and better handling bikes.

We're especially excited about the format of one of the marathon days.

Every Dakar has marathon days where the racers camp in a different village, far from the assistance vehicles and mechanics. Usually, the race cars, trucks and bikes stay together. The big-money teams have the advantage because they have mechanics and spare parts entered in race trucks. Our team has only assistance trucks not in the race, so our riders have only the tools and parts they can carry with them.

This year, one of the marathon days will have a "bike-only" bivouac.

That means no trucks or cars. Jonah and Casey will have only each other to depend on as usual, but the Galouises and Repsol riders will also be working without the help of mechanics. We think this will even the playing field a bit. We've done our best to build bikes that won't need much work, and we are keeping our fingers crossed.
