Press Release: Success
At the finish by the Pink Lake in Dakar and its time to crack open the bubbly. Team PAi Rally Pan America far exceeded its goals for the 2006 Dakar. Jonah Street was the star of the show, finishing in the top 5 on three separate Stages, once second. Overall, Jonah finished 17th. Amazing for a rally rookie on a new bike testing many unproven approaches. Mike Krynock brought #98 home in 84th place, equally astounding taking into account his wrist broken on the third of sixteen long days.
Sid, Niles and Robb worked at least as hard as the riders to get the job done. No matter what, our Ford truck rolled into the bivouacs on time and the 525 Rally bikes were ready to race each morning. We did not have the resources of the big teams, but we focused on the essentials and got the job done.
Plans are being laid for next year already. With a little more money, another year of bike development, and some hard training, this team will compete for the top podium spot.
We would have made it nowhere without our sponsors. Special thanks to PAi and its president Michael Kiley, who have believed in us from the start and encouraged us to stay focused on our goals.
Fun fun!
